The Royal Philharmonic Society Music Awards were presented at The Brewery on 9 May 2017 - a historic venue in the heart of the City of London with a reputation for fine food and excellent service.
The RPS Music Awards are the UK’s most prestigious awards for live classical music. They celebrate the outstanding brilliance of distinguished musicians, composers and young artists and reward imaginative ways of broadening our understanding and enjoyment of music.
The evening was hosted by BBC Radio 3's Andrew McGregor and Sarah Walker, with the silver lyre trophies presented to the winners across thirteen cateogries by distinguished pianist, composer and writer, Stephen Hough CBE.
Honorary Membership of the RPS was awarded to Barrie Gavin, acclaimed filmaker who has 'single-mindedly documenting the arts through film: above all classical music, with the composers of today as an overriding priority.'
