Announced 10 May 2016
"Handel’s great oratorio was brought new life by two conductors, Ivor Bolton and Laurence Cummings, two casts, led by Christopher Purves and Henry Waddington, two choruses and two orchestras. The Award goes to Glyndebourne’s Saul, in Barry Kosky’s brilliantly imaginative staging. It was seen first at the summer Festival and then, building on that success, on the autumn tour, thrilling audiences in the process."
